COL 105

Description

In COL 105 we did a lot of little assigments where we were taught skills to help us through out our college careers and also skills that can help us be successful in our life after college as well.  We were also put into groups, which taught how to use different people in the groups to help get an assignment done.

Activities:

 1. Diversity Workshop

 2. Veteran's Day Assembly

Description 1:

At this activity we were taught that even though people may seem like they are very different from you, that you actually have a lot of similarities.  We also did little activities to learn the similarities we had with those people.

Reflection 1:

I really enjoyed this activity because even though there were other people from my class there we did activities where you got to meet different people that go to school there.  I also got to make some new friends who have the same interests and things that I do, where I would have never thought to meet them because we had a lot of visible differences.

Description 2:

This assembly was outside in the front of the school by the flag pole.  There was a man that did alll the introductions and another who prayed before.  Then there was a 92 year old World War II veteran who spoke, and was very good.  Then Randy, from our class, presented a wreath after the speaker.

Reflection 2:

This assembly I felt was very encouraging.  The veteran gave a speech, that I felt, made you proud to be an American and happy for all the sacrifices that everyone has made for our freedom.  During this time with us fighting, the speaker said something I feel is very true and has stuck with me ever since, "When America is no longer the land of the brand, American will no longer be the land of the free."  To me this means that we need to stay strong in our beliefs and why we went to war in the first place.
