Our mission for Beta Lambda Kappa Black Honors Society, is to discredit the myth African-American students do not excel academically in higher education. We wish to honor the whole student based on scholarship, leadership, and community activism.  Our goals are to encourage undergraduate students to apply and excel in graduate school, create internships and career opportunities for all of our membership, share scholarship and funding opportunities with one another, produce outreach programs to secondary school students and be of assistance to our community academically and financially. By becoming a collective body of African- American students, faculty, and community members, we wish to employ the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child,’ in that it will take the unity of the African-American academic community to raise strong African-American leaders.
