Late Work Policy

Each assignment will have a specific due date, and it is expected that you hand in the assignment on that day. However, I do realize that things do come up, and we all can make mistakes. If you fail to turn in an assignment, either homework or a class work assignment, you will have until the next class meeting to hand in the assignment. At this point, the grade will be reduced by 1 letter grade. If you choose not to turn in the assignment for a late grade you will be required to stay after school with me for an ACADEMIC DETENTION to make up the assignment, and the highest grade you can receive is a 70.  If you fail to complete the assignment (or show effort that you are working towards an end), you will receive a 0 for the assignment.   No late assignments will be accepted after this point

If you are having difficulties completing an assignment, please contact me before the start of class - either email me or see me after or before school. I will be much more understanding if I am made aware in advance. Do not wait until the start of class to inform me you didn’t understand an assignment.

Make Up Work Policy

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what work you missed while you are out. The amount of time you are given to complete assignments you missed while you were absent will depend on the difficulty of the assignment(s), and the amount of time you were out. You will need to meet with me to make arrangements.

If you are absent on the day of a quiz, test, presentation, or major writing assignment is due, you will be expected make it up or hand it in on the day of your return.

Grading

1)   At least once every other week, you will be given a grade report. Here, you will see all of the assignments that have been given, the grades you received on the assignments, and your current average. After grade reports are distributed, you will need to have a parent/ or guardian sign and return it the following class for a homework grade. If the form does not come back with you, a phone call and/or email will be made home to discuss the grade. I will also announce the distribution of progress reports on my website.
