So far in my experience as a dental hygiene student I have been able to provide excellent patient care. I am able to teach my patients the importants of taking vitals and performing and extra and intra oral exam. This will always be my first priority after reviewing a medical history. As a dental hygiene student I feel that I have helped a patient learn the important facts of hypertenstion. He has come to the clinic present with high Blood Pressure. I have had to dismiss him from the dental clinic more than one occasion and advised him to see his doctor asap. I explained hypertentsion and the harm it does to the body. He went to his doctor and confirmed he had high blood pressure. He has been put on antenol and his blood pressure is now with in normal range. I do believe a dental hygienist can improve the quality of a patient's life and save a patients life.
