Gina NeSmith, RT (R)(M)(CT)

I have been in the Radiology Science field since 1994. I completed a certificate program and began working in a small 50-bed hospital. I immediately began cross training in mammography, ultrasound and CT. Several years later, I broadened my horizon and began working for the Level 1 trauma center in Savannah, GA.

My main interest has always been in CT. I continued my career at Memorial Health University Medical Center for six years as a dedicated CT technologist and held the position as team leader for two of those years. I had a wonderful experience working in such a large teaching facility that offered me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and grow as a technologist. I have recently accepted a position as the CT technologist at a PET/CT facility, Trident Pet of Savannah. As PET/CT technology combines nuclear medicine with CT, I continue to learn new aspects of the radiology field.

I am currently completing my B.S. degree in Radiologic Sciences at Armstrong Atlantic State University as a bridge student. I am excited about reaching my goal of a higher education and using this degree to seek new opportunities.

This project/class has been a rewarding experience for me. I have had the opportunity to teach CT to other technologist that did not have a clear understanding of what we do. It was great for me to use my leadership abilities to teach and explain my job. The project seemed very overwhelming in the beginning. Working with Amber, as the leader, has been pleasant. She had a vision for the project and together we have moved forward to complete it. This project will help me feel more comfortable in the future and will help me stay focused. I will use the skills I have learned during this project to continue to make a positive impact.
