Project Requirements	Advanced All requirements met. Student goes above and beyond expectations.	Proficient All requirements are met.	Developing Most requirements are met.	Beginning Few requirements are met. Work does not seem connected to assignment or is late.
Thematic Connection	Advanced All products are connected to an overall theme and represents a deep understanding of the text	Proficient Products have an overall theme and represent a good understanding of the text.	Developing Products generally follow a theme but only show a basic understanding of the text.	Beginning Products do not have a connecting theme and/or do not show an understanding of the text.
Originality	Advanced Considerable amount of original thought. Ideas are creative and inventive.	Proficient Some original thought, new ideas and insights.	Developing Uses other people's ideas, but little evidence of original thinking.	Beginning Uses other people's ideas, but does not give credit.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling	Advanced Students writing contains only one or two grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistakes.	Proficient Students writing contains three to four grammar, spelling, punctuation mistakes.	Developing Students writing contains five to six grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistakes. Developing Student included some elements of MLA Format, but is missing two of the following elements: Books not italicized, no title, no page #, not formatted correctly, not Times New Roman, not double-spaced, not size 12.	Beginning Student did not use MLA Format.
