Level 4: Exceeds Standards

Listener can reproduce the melodic idea very easily. If there are multiple melodic tracks, chords, and/or lyrics, great care was given toward making them melodically, harmonically, and lyrically complimentary. These melodies are really stuck in my head now!

Level 3: Meets Standards

Listener can reproduce most of the melodic idea. If there are multiple melodic tracks, chords, and/or lyrics, some care was given toward making them melodically, harmonically and lyrically complimentary. These melodies are somewhat catchy.

Level 2: Approaches Standards

Although a melodic idea may exist, it is difficult for the listener to identify any pattern. If there are multiple melodic tracks, chords and/or lyrics, very little thought was given toward making them melodically, harmonically or lyrically complimentary. These melodies are not catchy at all.

Level 1: Emerging

Little or no thought was given to the melodic idea. No melodic organization exists. As for multiple melodic tracks, chords, and/or lyrics, there is no clear connection between these. This sounds like notes were randomly being played.

Level 4: Exceeds Standards

Tempo is absolutely steady throughout the entire composition. This sounds like a click/metronome was used while composing, and/or the midi notes were quantized.

Level 3: Meets Standards

Tempo is steady throughout most of the the composition. I can't tell if a click/metronome was used while composing. It seems like the the midi notes were quantized.

Level 2: Approaches Standards

Tempo is only occasionally steady. I don't think a click/metronome was used, and I don't think the the midi notes were quantized while composing.

Level 1: Emerging

Little or no thought was given to the tempo of this composition. Tempo is irregular throughout the entire composition. This sounds like rhythms were just randomly being played. No notes were quantized.

Level 4: Exceeds Standards

Composer's thorough understanding of the software (GarageBand, Logic, etc.) and hardware used (digital keyboard, microphone, etc.) facilitated this exemplary composition.

Level 3: Meets Standards

Composer's understanding of the software and hardware helped with this composition.

Level 2: Approaches Standards

Composer lacks the basic understanding of the software and hardware used. Their inability to successfully utilize these digital tools distracts from their overall musical idea.

Level 1: Emerging

Composer has little or no understanding of the software and hardware used and was unable to properly compose a basic composition.
