Layout & Design Student created an overall, balanced composition and strong design.	Excellent work The design has a strong sense of balance and proportion within the composition. If there is not a clear focal point, there is a consistent, overall pattern or unified feeling.	Fine Work The design mostly fills the space and feels fairly unified.	Work is below expectations The design feels lost within the space or misplaced.
Point, Line or Plane The student utilized either the point, line, plane or some combination to create a successful design.	Excellent work The design is comprised of either points, lines or planes (or some combination of any). Elements are sensitive to portraying the subject through same or varying widths and sizes.	Fine Work The design is primarily comprised of either points, lines or planes (or some combination of any). Elements have same or varying widths and sizes.	Work is below expectations The design does not include or rely on points, lines or planes.
Overall Craftsmanship The quality of the workmanship is excellent.	Excellent work Presentation of the work is neat with no stray marks, smudges, wrinkles or curled edges of paper. Cuts and edges are smooth and clean. There is no evidence of glue or other fasteners.	Fine Work A few stray marks or smudges are evident but do not greatly detract from the overall appearance of the piece. There are a couple of rough edges, but not exceptionally distracting.	Work is below expectations The amount of stray marks, smudges, or paper imperfections detracts from the overall apperance of the piece. Edges are rough and irregular.
Time/Effort Punctuality and wise use of time	Excellent work Class time was used wisely. An exceptional amount of work was completed including multiple drafts and practice for the final project. Students was receptive and responsive to feedback.	Fine Work Class time was almost always used wisely. An adequate amount of work was completed. Student was receptive to feedback.	Work is below expectations Class time was not used wisely. Little work was completed. Students was not receptive to feedback, disregarding suggestions.
