My name is T. Poag (please call me “TP,” my initials!)~~
Through a second grant, I am in my third year at BCCC; with a major in HIT (Health Information Technology). After successfully completing the Health Information CCS Program, (I qualify to graduate from that program in June, ’08), however, I am going on, at BCCC, to complete the HIT, RHIT program as well and will receive my A.A. degree in RHIT in the fall of 2008.
I have a Bachelors degree from California State University-Northridge. My work experience is varied, (though mostly in legal); and, I am a Certified Litigation Paralegal through UCLA in California; in addition to 2 years of law school and a working background in insurance (both P&C and Life &Health).
After, recently having worked in HCFA/UB Health Claims for MCOs/HMOs, I began to see the rapid and radical expansion in the Health Information Technology field which has led to my aim: which is to merge my skills, training & talents to carve out my own niche in the HIM/HIT field.
For relaxation and to exercise my creativity, I write poetry (in fact I won 3rd place in our campus Poetry Contest last spring); and, am also a thespian and life-long member of Arena Players (one of the first theatre-in-the-round in this country and one of the oldest black theatre ensembles in the US).
I am taking advantage of an ENG113-7811 class assignment to create an e-Portfolio to prepare my own career and professional business website to benefit me in my future career and business plans.
