Welcome to the Business Marketing Education Program at Riverchase Middle School.

Students are required to have the following to be successful in this course:

* Folder for BME or dedicated section in binder
* Black or blue ink pen
* Pencil
* Maintain a username/password log
* Paper
* Project checklist provided by teacher
* A can do attitude, a smile and ability to work well with others.

 

This course is exploratory in nature and is offered for a period of nine (9) weeks. Students will be introduced to Business/Marketing computer essentials, understand and apply classroom and school policies, as well as, learn safety and business industry ethics and standards.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to identify and define basic computer components, perform the essential functions of keyboarding and learn data entry techniques with a focus on correct keyboarding technique and acceptable speed and accuracy. Students will be introduced to the basic use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. 

This course is offered to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and the course syllabus is available for your review.

Note: All assignments indicated on the syllabus are subject to change and may be modified based on overall student knowledge level of computer skills upon entry into the course and overall class mastery of the previous weeks lessons. Students will be notified of any major changes to the course syllabus.

Use of Internet:

Students will be exposed to the Internet for projects specifically related to Business / Marketing. Students use of the Internet will be restricted and under Teacher supervision. Parental permission is required and must be returned to the Riverchase Middle School prior to use of this component of the course. Permission forms have been provided to students the first week of school. Internet safety procedures are adapted from Netsmartz aand iSafe.  and
