About Me

I was born in Virginia, and then moved to Arkansas, Georgia and Michigan, which is where I live today. I love the state of Michigan and think it has so much to offer! I like to camp and travel and have visited many awesome sites in this state. I like to spend time with my husband, 2 boys and our Cockapoo whom we call "bossy" Lucy. I also enjoy reading, photography, using the computer, jogging and learning anything new!

I began my passion for education and love of learning when I was just 6 years old and my mother took me to the library for the summer reading program. After many trips to the library and many "stickers" posted on my library book challenge, I learned to read. I will never forget the joy and the love of books that summer brought me. I still love libraries today and can't wait until my next trip to look for "treasure" in the library!  When I was in 6th grade I was given the opportunity to tutor students at the elementary level. I was delighted at the progress we made and the ability I had to make a difference.  When I went to college the first time, I was steered to the business school and majored in accounting. I went on to spend many years in the accounting profession until I had children and began getting involved in their schools. It was only then that I realized how I was meant to teach children with the hopes of making a difference in their lives and helping them to become as passionate about education as I am! Thus began my journey into education again as I enrolled at Eastern Michigan University in their post-bachelor's teacher certification program in elementary education with minors in math, science and structure of the disciplines. I still love to learn and embrace each new class with as much enthusiasm as I did when I was just 6 years old checking out a new book from the library.

I can't wait to share my passion for education and love of learning with a classroom of my own!
